Cirque's Dralion premieres in Australia
Australian stars of sport, TV and music have turned out for the Australian premiere of Cirque Du Soleil's Dralion, which will tour the country for the next year.
The acrobatic circus show had its first performance at Sydney's Moore Park Entertainment Complex on Wednesday night.
Among Australians to work the red carpet were Australia's Next Top Model winner Demelza Reveley, Swans star Barry Hall, TV presenter Tom Williams, surfer Koby Abberton, members from music group Human Nature, music guru Glenn A Baker, and racing royalty Gai Waterhouse.
With a traditional Chinese feel and breathtaking acrobatics, the show is described as a meeting of East and West.
It is based on the four elements humans need to survive - water, air, earth and fire.
Artistic director Michael Smith said he was confident Australians would love the show.
"It was originally created to be a celebration of life, it's a happy feel-good show. Our expectation is that people go out feeling good after it," Smith told AAP.
Since premiering in Montreal in 1999, Dralion has been seen by more than eight million people, across more than 50 cities in Asia, Europe and America.
After its Sydney shows, from July to September, it will visit Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne.
