The music television channel that gave James Mathison, Yumi Stynes and Danny Clayton their start is looking for its next on-air presenter.

Channel V is about to launch a nationwide talent search for a presenter who is obsessed with music, knows it inside out, has a passion for writing and possesses the all-important "it" factor.

Finalists will compete against each other on stage at Sydney's Homebake music festival in December, when their presenting skills and music knowledge will be put to the test.

Hopefuls can enter by post, online or at live auditions and casting calls, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

It is the fifth time the pay TV channel has searched for a presenter.

Stynes and Mathison got their shot at the big time thanks to the reporter search, while Clayton was unearthed in the Snapper competition.

Andrew G and James Kerley also got a career kickstart on Channel V.
