Actor Nick Nolte has escaped a fire that burned a Malibu home to the ground.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said the actor slightly cut his hand when he broke a window and fled the home shortly after 11:30am (0530 AEDT, Wednesday).
The Sheriff's Department said an electrical malfunction caused the fire. The fired destroyed the home and caused an estimated $US3.5 million ($A4.94 million) damage.
