The 42-year-old actor was told by director Steven Soderbergh that he didn't have to bare all in new movie 'Magic Mike' - in which he plays former stripper Dallas - but knew he would regret it if he didn't flash his flesh, and was surprised by how much he enjoyed the experience.

He admitted: 'It wasn't in the script, but Soderbergh said in the beginning that if it felt right, I could strip at the end of the movie. I said, 'I gotta dance, man.' I would regret it for the rest of my life if I was in a male stripper movie and didn't get up there and strip myself.

'At first it was scary as hell, but then it became like a drug, and I couldn't wait to do it again. Look, I love to dance, but I've never been a stripper.

'Channing (Tatum)'s one of the best hip-hop street dancers I've ever seen, and I didn't want to challenge his style, so I worked on my own strengths. I also knew that my dance had to be the dirtiest. It had to be wonderfully filthy.'

Matthew - who stars in the film alongside Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer - is known for his toned physique and refused to use a body double in any of his scenes.

Asked if he had considered a body double, he told The Advocate: 'No way. That's all me up there. I don't need a stunt ass.'

And the actor - who has children Levi, three, and two-year-old Vida with fiancee Camila Alves - admitted all of the cast were in good shape because their 'vanity' spurred them on to be as 'ripped' as possible.

He added: ' Everybody was pretty damn ripped already, but boy, if you really want to get men in great shape, just tell them they're going to play male strippers in a movie and have their s--t onscreen for the rest of time. Vanity, baby.'

The movie's director Barry Sonnenfeld believes the latest addition to the sci-fi comedy series has 'something new and inventive' in the shape of a time travel element that sees Agent J (Will Smith) go back in time to the 1960s to stop an alien from assassinating Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones).

When asked what the chemistry was like between Will and Josh Brolin - who plays a younger version of Agent K - said: 'The relationships are incredibly strong. From Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, between Will Smith and Josh Brolin. And I think we also have more action than in 'Men In Black 3' than in 'Men In Black' and 'Men In Black 2.' Also, more aliens and more magic.

'The audiences will be amused, amazed and also moved. I think if we can do all of those three things then we'll have a really successful movie. With 'Men In Black 3,' it's not only a 'Men In Black' movie, it's also a time travel movie.

'We wanted the movie to be both familiar and different. We wanted to bring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones back together again. But we also wanted something new and inventive, and that came in the time travel element.'

Barry believes Josh's performance in the movie was so impressive that the audience won't even notice when the 44-year-old actor's portrayal of Agent K ends and Tommy's begins.

He added to FlicksandBits.com: 'The performance was so consistent that it was really hard for me to tell where Tommy Lee Jones ends, Josh Brolin begins. And Josh Brolin ends, Tommy Lee Jones begins.

'I think when people watch this movie, they're not gonna know that Josh was in the movie. I think they'll think that the whole movie is played by Tommy Lee Jones because the entire movie is just this guy Agent K. It's really hard to separate the two performances, whether it's 2012 or 1969, you're watching Agent K.

'The only person I thought would be right for the role was Josh.'

Not, at least, among the 22 filmmakers competing for the coveted Palme d'Or award. Last year, four female directors made the lineup, including Britain's Lynne Ramsay and Australia's Julie Leigh.

The French feminist group La Barbe has taken the festival to task for excluding women with a petition published in the Le Monde and The Guardian newspapers.

Festival director Thierry Fremaux argues it's not his fault that filmmaking remains primarily 'a male sport.' He says he chooses films only 'because I think they deserve to be in selection.'

The French Riviera film festival opened on Wednesday and runs until May 27.

The 22-year-old actress plays the titular character in the new movie and says a scene where her alter ego leads a fight to reclaim the kingdom from evil queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) reminded her of the 1995 film 'Braveheart', in which Mel Gibson played freedom fighter William Wallace.

She said: 'We saved it until the very last day, actually. We re-wrote it every single day of the shoot. Me and Rupert had it in our back pocket the entire time.

'Ultimately, I don't think that it makes a whole lot of sense, but it feels right. Do you know what I mean? It's very up-in-the-air; it's very subjective until the very end. Until some - I don't want to give anything away, but until the very obvious line. It's so Bravehearty. It's crazy, but it's good. It's good.'

Kristen also revealed her boyfriend Robert Pattinson is a fan of her work in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'.

She added to MTV News: 'He likes it. He really likes it. It's cool. It's good. I'm really proud of it.'

South African star Theron - who squares off against Stewart's Snow White as evil Queen Ravenna - wore a revealing sheer dress by Dior Couture.

Twilight actress Stewart, 22, chose a lacy number by Marchesa, which she teamed with black trainers for the premiere at London's Leicester Square.

The story has become the latest fairy tale to get the Hollywood treatment - with at least 18 other classics in the pipeline proving the fairy tale is back in fashion.

And it is the second adaptation of the tale out this year - following Mirror, Mirror starring Julia Roberts - with a third version coming soon.

Speaking to Sky News at the premiere, Stewart says that fairy tales were all the rage because the stories were timeless.

'I think they've lasted for a reason,' she said.

'I think they're pretty fundamental and base - you read them to children. People are fundamentally the same, we care about people and fairy tales are just one way of saying that.'

Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman promises to give audiences a different take on the children's favourite.

Charlize Theron said the movie drew on the original story while focusing on its more sinister elements.

'We just tried to go back to the old Brothers Grimm version, the way it was intended as somewhat dark, and we've set it in an incredible world,' she said.

'It's big, it's epic and we tried to look at these characters in a new light, to shake them up a bit and to turn them on their heads.'

Over the years fairy tales have been told time and time again all over the world.

The Brothers Grimm version of Snow White came out in 1812 and the most famous of its many portrayals was Disney's 1937 animated version.

Some critics argue that although stories such as this one are timeless, it also indicates Hollywood is becoming lazy and is running out of original material.

However, film critic Mark Eccleston told Sky News the trend was very timely.

'It's almost this perfect creative storm that works right now,' he said.

'They're universal stories that tap into our storytelling culture. As human beings in the middle of the recession we want to see the underdog champion against dark forces and corporate nature.

'You have stars and technology that makes them irresistible and when Hollywood gets a hit they're going to keep churning it out.'

New versions are planned of Beauty And The Beast, Peter Pan and Pinocchio - not to mention another Snow White - over the next couple of years.

The first alleged victim, identified only as John Doe, filed his lawsuit last week, seeking $US2 million ($A2.01 million) and alleging that Travolta grabbed his penis after receiving a massage at a Beverly Hills hotel in January.

Travolta's lawyer Martin Singer dismissed the claim as 'a complete fiction and fabrication', saying the Hollywood A-list actor was on the East Coast on the day in question, January 16.

A few days later the same lawyer, Okorie Okorocha, filed another lawsuit including a second alleged victim, identified only as John Doe #2, this time for an alleged assault in Atlanta, Georgia on January 28.

On Tuesday Okorocha said he had withdrawn the first lawsuit. 'Let's just say we had differences in opinion of how to handle the case and decided to part ways,' he told People magazine.

The notice of dismissal was filed on Tuesday in the US District Court in Los Angeles, People reported.

Travolta's lawyer welcomed the news, telling the TMZ celebrity news website: 'My client is completely vindicated by Doe #1 dropping his claims and dismissing his lawsuit.'

He added: 'We fully expect that my client will similarly be vindicated with respect to Doe #2, as well as with respect to any other person who makes meritless claims against John Travolta.'

The British actor is set to reprise his role as Asgardian gatekeeper, Heimdall in the sequel - which will again see Chris Hemsworth portray the title character - and though he says it will be an epic adventure, he also revealed the story will examine the characters in detail.

He said: 'Definitely Heimdall's more involved, but also, what's more involved is who the Asgardians are. I think we'll see a sense of that.

'It's a huge film, 'Thor 2,' but I also think it's micro in a way that you start to look at people, who they are a little bit more.'

Though production on the sequel - which is expected to explore the other realms of the universe, outside of Asgard and Earth - has not yet begun, Idris can't wait to get to work on the movie.

He told MTV News: 'I'm actually excited about it. I literally just did a costume fitting the other day.'

Idris' co-star Tom Hiddleston recently discussed his hopes for the movie sequel, saying he wanted his character Loki to reach 'rock bottom'.

He said: 'I'd like to take Loki to his absolute rock bottom. I'd like to see him yield, essentially, to his darkest instincts. Then, having hit rock bottom, maybe come back up.'

The 28-year-old actor has been working out to get fitter for his forthcoming movie roles because he believes it is a 'sign of maturity' if people are healthy, and he isn't happy that he most praise he has ever received came when he was 'big' in 2011 sports drama 'Moneyball'.

He said: 'I think there are a lot of talented dramatic actors who are all different shapes and sizes. I think as I mature in many different ways - physically, emotionally, literally grow older - I think different roles are afforded to me and I think as my resume matures... I was big in 'Moneyball' and that's the most praise I got for a performance. I don't think like that.

'I think it is about the work you are doing. Getting in better shape is a sign of maturity. I think you are taken seriously.

'I think Bennett Miller said that about me, 'That I could tell he wanted to shed his skin and get out of whatever box he is in.' I didn't think about that at the time but when he said that I was like... Oh! A very insightful guy.'

Jonah recently starred as babysitter Noah Griffith in 'The Sitter', and he enjoys working with children because he believes they do not get 'jaded' unlike his generation of acting talent.

He added: 'They're great. I have got nephews. The spontaneity and the energy. My favourite thing is that kids are not jaded. They are not over it. Everyone in my generation is over everything. Everything, 'I'm over this'. That's what my generation is like, 'Whatever. I'm over it.' Kids aren't like that. Things are exciting to them. That's infectious to be around.'

'The Sitter: Totally Irresponsible Edition' is out on DVD and Blu-ray now.

The 36-year-old actress - who adopted son Jackson in March - said at the London premiere of her movie 'Snow White and the Huntsman' that everything before he came into her life is a blur.

She told E! News: 'It's strangely everything that you've hoped for and it feels so right. I don't know how else to say it.

'I feel like I can't remember anything prior to him. I feel like it was always just meant to be what it is.'

The single parent celebrated her first Mother's Day overseas as the American holiday fell on Sunday.

She revealed: 'My mum and Jacks are here with me. We had a nice morning. He got to spend a little time with me and he got to have a little snuggle.

'I'm going to see them later tonight. It's really nice to have him here.'

The actress is angry that the business is allegedly using images of her appearing in 'Million Dollar Baby' in their adverts without consent.

According to a lawsuit filed last week in a Los Angeles Superior Court, Hilary says a company called Robert's Home Audio and Video used snaps of her in their commercial campaign without prior agreement.

She is now asking for unspecified damages after a violation of her right of publicity, according to TMZ.

The lawsuit does not go in to detail about exactly how the images were used but does devote 14 pages to listing her credits and awards.

The news comes one month after it emerged her 'Million Dollar Baby' co-star Clint Eastwood is suing a furniture company for allegedly using his name to sell products.

The 82-year-old Oscar-winner filed a lawsuit against Evofurniture, a website named Immod.com, and the owners of the website's domain name Alan Finkelstein and Casey Choron.

He claims the defendants are selling entertainment products, ottomans and chairs named after his first and last name.

One product description reads: 'When you're invited into a person's home, you get to see the good, the bad and the ugly. When visitors come to your home, the Clint 47' Entertainment Center makes your family room alone look like you live in a perfect world of a million dollar baby.'

Mr Smith says the legaility of allowing same-sex marriage, is all 'about semantics'.

'If anybody can find someone to love them and to help them through this difficult thing that we call life, I support that in any shape or form,' he told Herald Extra.

The Hollywood actor believes it was a 'brave move' for the President to come out and support same-sex marriage.

He told reporters in Berlin that the President has his support and vote in the November election.

Ky Furneaux was honoured for her performance in the movie 'Thor', receiving a Taurus World Stunt Award, the stunt industry equivalent of the Oscars.

'To know that a group of my peers in the industry thought that my work was amongst the top five sequences for 2011 was just amazing,' Ms Furneaux told Adelaide Now.

She says stunt work is too dangerous for her to continue her career and hopes to star in her own reality adventure show.

The 42-year-old actor is famed for appearing in films such as 'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days' and 'Fool's Gold' and thinks there is a careful balance needed to get the formula for such movies right.

He said: ''How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days' is where I really started to learn how to do a romantic comedy. It's so much about the verbal ping-pong.

'Romantic comedies are like a ship sailing on top of the water. If you dig too deep and you drop your anchor, you fing sink.'

Matthew admitted he took his first romantic lead, in 2001's 'The Wedding Planner', because his career had 'cooled off' and he was surprised at how much fun he had on the film.

He told Total Film magazine: 'My career had cooled off at that time. 'A Time To Kill' was such a ka-boom, the stock had to go down.

'I was like, 'Well look at this. This is kind of funny, and buoyant. It's not really who I am, but jeez, there's nothing wrong with it and guess what - the pay is sure good!' '

Studio estimates in the US say the superhero blockbuster took in $US103.2 million ($A102.92 million) to lead for a second-straight weekend, raising its domestic total to $US373.2 million.

With $US95.4 million more overseas, The Avengers lifted its international receipts to $US628.9 million and a worldwide haul of just over $US1 billion, only 19 days after it began showing in some markets.

The Avengers easily fended off Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's vampire romp Dark Shadows, which had a so-so domestic start of $US28.8 million to finish a distant number two.

Mr Depp arrived to more than 700 screaming fans at Narita International Airport, east of Tokyo.

The actor borrowed one of the creatures for a ride during a break in filming new movie 'Child of God' and left the crew panic-stricken when he failed to return after three hours.

However, James eventually returned to the West Virginia base just as search parties were setting out, and revealed he had had to get the horse to guide him back.

According to National Enquirer magazine, he told crew: 'I've been wandering around for hours. If it wasn't for this horse I'd still be lost.'

James isn't the only star to have been aided by a horse recently.

Johnny Depp claims he owes his life to one after he fell while filming 'The Lone Ranger'.

He said: 'I'm lucky to be here. I've done a number of films on horseback and I've taken a couple of spills but this was a violent one.

'I had a good relationship with the horse, which was named Scout, and when I look at the tape I can see that Scout saved my life.

'I went down badly and I was dragged for 25 yards and in the end the horse just jumped over me and clipped me with his back legs.'

The singer-and-actress - who gave birth to Maxwell Drew on May 1 - and fiance Eric Johnson are said to have agreed a deal with People magazine to show off their little girl to the world.

The 51-year-old was accused of exaggerating expenditures during the filming of both Blythe Danner's The Lightkeepers and David Carradine's The Golden Boys in Cape Cod, resulting in nearly $US4.7 million ($A4.69 million) in tax credit overpayments.

In April he pleaded guilty to several charges, including larceny and making a false claim, and on Thursday Adams was convicted of fraud and handed the jail sentence.

There is also a strong focus on highlighting Victoria's business relations with the subcontinent.

Premier Ted Baillieu is a huge advocate of the launch.

Tourism Minister Louise Asher says ''The world is interested in India because of its burgeoning middle class and its capacity to buy'.

Ms Asher is hopeful the festival will attract tourism from India.

The director is preparing for the release of 'The Dark Knight Rises', the third and final instalment in his series of films featuring Christian Bale as the caped crusader and he admitted the pressure the getting to him.

He told Total Film magazine: 'We feel a tremendous challenge and responsibility to finish our story. We have to give the audiences something they haven't seen before, but also fulfil their expectations of what they enjoyed in the first two films. That's the tricky balance.'

The movie was filmed across the globe with locations in the US, UK and India and Christopher revealed this was a conscious decision because he wanted a 'broader canvas'.

He said: 'With a sequel there is always the challenge of trying to meet or indeed exceed expectations. And some of those are based on the size, scale and world of the film.

'We travelled to many different places because we wanted to give it a broader canvas.'

'The Dark Knight Rises' also features Tom Hardy as villain Bale and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.

The British comedian - who announced his divorce from Katy Perry last December - will present the June 4 ceremony at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, for the first time, and he insists the event will be 'more impressive' than recent box office sensation 'Avengers Assemble'.

He said: 'This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than 'The Avengers' and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out.'

Stephen Friedman, president of MTV, is delighted Russell - who hosted the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008 - has signed up to front the film awards, and he believes the 'Despicable Me' actor's 'rock 'n' roll sensibility and fearlessness' make him the 'perfect' choice for the role.

He explained: 'With his amazing ability to span the full spectrum of comedy from the most high to lowbrow, Russell's smart, unpredictable wit uniquely connects him to our audience.

'His rock 'n' roll sensibility and fearlessness give us the perfect partner with whom to take a leap of faith with as we meld the worlds of movies and music together on one very special night.'

Mila Kunis, Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Mark Wahlberg and Chris Hemsworth were all recently announced as presenters for the event, which sees 'The Hunger Games' and 'Bridesmaids' up for eight nominations apiece, including Movie of the Year.

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards will be screened on Monday June 4 on MTV at 9pm, and voting for the accolades is available at MovieAwards.MTV.com until June 2.

Tagged, developed through the Australian Communications and Media Authority's Cybersmart program, received a gold award at the WorldMediaFestival in Germany on Thursday.

There were more than 580 entries from 29 countries at this year's Hamburg festival and Tagged took out the category Web: E-Learning and Education.

In April, the short film also won a silver medal at the New York Festivals International Television and Film Awards in Las Vegas.

It won the award in the Instruction Education category, and also received a finalist nomination in the Society Social Issues section.

Tagged portrays a group of high school friends who post a rumour about a rival online.

Their action leads to a school fight being filmed and uploaded to YouTube, eventually parents and police are called in, and one student moves to another school.

The film addresses cyber bullying, sexting, filmed fights and police action.

Following the announcement of the gold award, ACMA deputy chairman Richard Bean said the characters in Tagged deal with the same problems young people around the world face daily.

'This award is confirmation that despite portraying some tough aspects of teenage behaviour, Tagged is a pertinent and realistic film that highlights the importance of educating young people about their digital citizenship,' Bean said in a statement.

'At the end of the day, cyber bullying and sexting don't just affect the victim; it can have a significant effect on whole communities.'

RadarOnline.com says the star was due in Perth for a charity event on Sunday, but has had to leave.

Preston wasn't due to give birth to the baby boy, who they've already named Benjamin, for another three weeks.
